Become a Birchfield Harrier

Our Club members benefit from access to our training sessions, and there are plenty of opportunities to compete for the Club, from beginners up to international level. If you are interested in joining our Club please contact our office via email contact@birchfieldharriers.com and we can arrange for you to visit the Club or attend a trial session. Please do not turn up on spec as we may not be able to help you on a busy club night.

Teams

Birchfield Harriers welcomes members across all ages and all disciplines. Our training nights are Tuesday and Thursday at the Alexander Stadium.. We also run an academy on Tuesday 4.45.5.45 at the Alexander Stadium for young athletes as an introduction to the sport of athletics. Benefits of membership include:

  • Exclusive use of the track & field at Alexander Stadium on club nights
  • Use of the Clubroom
  • Use of the free-weights room (juniors must be supervised by s qualified coach)
  • Advice and training from some of the UK’s top coaches
  • Training groups from beginners to internationals
  • The right to wear the club vest and call yourself a Birchfield Harrier

Training

Club nights are TUESDAY and THURSDAY evenings from 5.00pm until 9pm at the Alexander Stadium. Anyone training on Club nights should be paying the monthly direct debit fee and be a current member of the Club unless permission has been granted for an athlete to train.

Training Fees

Training fees must be paid for monthly via direct debit and prior to attending any training session. This fee entitles you to train as many times as you like on club nights each month.

Juniors members £15 per month

Senior Members £17 per month

Membership Fees and Renewal fees

Membership fees are paid annually and are due on 31st March. Memberships must be renewed by 1 April if you wish to train on club nights and compete for the club. Membership fees can be found here.

Please also note that the Club is able to be sensitive and discreet in cases where there is difficulty  paying subscriptions. Please email the Club contact’birchfieldharriers.com at the earliest opportunity to discuss how we can help. Any emails will be treated in the strictest confidence.

We have rates for both Competitive and Non-Competitive members for seniors only as we expect all our junior members to compete, please understand that if joining as a non-competing member this will remove your eligibility to compete in ALL events.

New Members

If you are joining the club for the first time you will be asked to complete a membership form and pay the relevant membership fee. Please note junior members should be part of a training group or our acedmy prior to completing the membership form. We cannot accept new junior members unless they have gone through our academy or have been invited to join a training group. Click here to view 2025/25 membership fees.

Non Payment

If your membership is not paid the following rules will apply:

1. EA registration will not be paid and you will not be able to compete in any UKA permit meeting.

2. No expnses will be paid and membership fees will not be taken out of expense claims.

3. You will not be eligible for selection for team competitions as you will not be considered to be a current member and will not be registered with England Athletics. This will include: BAL, UKWAL, Midland Leagues, and YDL as well as Cross Country and Sportshall competition.

4. Members training on club nights at may be refused entry, if fees remain unpaid, as this is a condition of access to club night training..

In addition, Associate Membership does not entitle you to vote either at a Club AGM or EGM or train during Club nights unless you are a coach or official associate member.
