August. This is the only senior “team” athletics event being held in the UK this summer

There are also guest races which have attracted some of the country’s top athletes who are preparing for the British Athletics Championships two weeks later in Manchester.

Birchfield Harriers would have been contesting the first season of the new National Athletics League this summer, which would have seen men and women competing together for the first time for many years. Sunday will see four teams contesting the event, with local opposition  from Coventry Godiva who are joined by Thames Valley Harriers  from London and Nuneaton Nomads a composite team.

There are plenty of top level Birchfield athletes to look out for, many of whom are looking to compete on their home track in 2022. Number one in the rankings for 400m hurdles, Efe Okoro is entered for both the 400mH and the 400m. Heptathlete Katie Stainton looks as though she will have a busy day having entered the 100m hurdles, 200m, long jump and jevelin. Jessica Mayho, second in the rankings for the hammer last year, can be seen in the women's hammer and another of our top hammer throwers, Craig Murch is competing in the men's event. It will also be great to see world 4 x 100m gold medallist Danny Talbot race in the 200m, only his second race since suffering a major injury last year.

Support from England Athletics, AP Sports Consulting and JP Health means the event is being screened on Vinco.
