Birchfield Perform At The Midland Race Walking Championships

A large haul of titles, trophies and medals for Birchfield Harriers at the first races of the season.

Midland and Counties Race Walking Championships

It was a good haul for Birchfield as the first race of the 2019 season took place on a bright and sunny day at Stourport cycle track, with clear skies and temperatures of 12 degrees. Good early season performances were made by all the walkers with three PB's being set whilst winning 7 Championship titles, 6 trophies and 14 medals.

In the Younger Age Groups Championships:

Kelsey Tozer won the U13 Girls 2km Championship trophy in 12:39, becoming the Midland Champion and the Warwickshire Champion. She improved her PB by 34 seconds.

Gabriel Birch won the U15 Girls 3km Championship trophy in 21:47, becoming the Midland Champion and the Warwickshire Champion.

In the Womens 5km Championships:

Birchfield Harriers (Louisa and Karen) finished 2nd Team overall with 189 points, with Silver Midland Championship medals.

Birchfield Harriers won the Standard team trophy.

Louisa Davidson won the Standard Trophy, finishing in 5th position overall with 34:47. For Warwickshire she was 2nd placed, winning a County Silver medal. She improved her PB by 53 seconds.

Karen Williams came 2nd in the Standard 5km, finishing in 6th position overall with 38:25. For Warwickshire she was 3rd placed, winning a County Bronze medal. She improved her PB by 18 seconds.

In the Mens 10km Championship:

Birchfield Harriers (Mark, Peter, John) won the Midland Championship trophy with 288 points, winning Gold Midlands medals.

Mark Williams finished 2nd overall with 57.26 winning the Midlands Silver medal. He won the Staffordshire title, becoming County Champion.

Peter Boszko finished 3rd overall with 58.32 winning the Midlands Bronze medal. He won the Worcestershire title, becoming County Champion.

John Constandinou finished 7th overall with 63.42. For Warwickshire he was 3rd placed, winning a County Bronze medal.

Julian Barnett finished 11th overall with 76.10, and for Warwickshire was 4th placed.

David Fall finished 12th overall with 76.22, and for Warwickshire was 5th placed.
